The “Pavithra mothiram”, (pavithra ring) is a ring made of Durba grass. It is made of gold and is unique for its “pavithra knot” at the centre of the ring. Finger rings made of gold and silver of 22 carat with the traditional method of soldering and totally handmade. The purity standard is above 90.5%. There are three lines on the ring which represent the three “Nadis” – Ida, Pingala and Sushumna. The knot at the centre by joining the above three lines indicate the glands in the human body. It originates from the definite territory of Payyannur in Taliparamba Taluk, Kammr district in Kerala. The name “Payyannur derives itself from the word “ooru” of the “Payyan”, i.e., the land of the Lord Subrahrnanya. The product derives its qualities and reputation from the said place. A specific “link” exists between the product and the said place of origin.
