Known for its attractive appearance, deliciously flavored, sweet, juicy and pearly white aril Shahi Litchi is an early maturity variety found in Bihar especially in Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga and nearby areas like Samastipur, Vaishali, East Champaran and Begusarai districts of Bihar. The plant of this variety is semi -vigorous, dense, round-topped, slow-growing, 6-10 m high and equally broad. This variety is known for its attractive fruits of crimson red color, pleasant aroma, juiciness, good sugar acid blend and high pulp to seed ratio, large size, round shape, thin peel and medium stone with cream color. The layers of this plant gradually spread in the area suitable to growing conditions, like the humid climatic condition, alluvial soil with fairly good amount of calcium content and now this is one of the important varieties of Bihar.
