Bangalore Blue grapes are found growing in Bangalore rural district, covering Doddaballapur, Devanahalli, Nelamangala and Hoskote regions. These grapes are supposed to be a hybrid between Vitisvinifera and V. labrusca. In these grapes berries are small sized, dark purple in colour, ovoid, seeded with thick skin with a blend of sourness and sweetness. Juice is purple coloured, clear and pleasantly flavoured. The particular taste with a blend of sour and sweet is characteristic of this variety. Bangalore Blue grapes, are fairly resistant to rain damage and fruit bud differentiation is not impaired by cloudy weather and rains.
