Grown mostly across the Bhal region of Gujarat, “Bhalia wheat” grains are very hard and bold with a vitreous texture. It possesses desirable qualities like, high protein content, medium sedimentation value, high carotene, less yellow berry and low water absorption. Amber-colored and larger than other wheat classes, this wheat is grown in medium black soil and hard layer in sub-surface layer. The Bhalia variety is used for producing many premium products due to its health benefits and its sweet taste. The Bhalia variety is expected to provide a major boost to wheat export in the country.
