It is extensively cultivated chiefly in four districts of Nagaland – Kohima, Peren, Mon and Dimapur. Chilli is one of the most spices garnishing dishes. These chillies are one of the hottest chillies on earth and change their colour from green to red at maturity. The unique soil and climatic conditions of this region perhaps provide the best possible environment for expression of the full potential. Creating an artificially similar environment elsewhere in the world may not be successful in exploiting the very inherent uniqueness of the Chudi Chilli, or locally known as the Naga Mircha or Raja Mircha. It is known as the hottest chilli on earth and is closely associated to the Naga tribes.
