The distinct Tangaliya craft consists of knotting a contrast color thread, along the warp and pushing them together to create the effect of raised dots. It is practised in 8 Talukas and 26 villages of Gujarat. The unique inlay of beads is unique is done during the weaving. This inlaying in the woven fabric demands much skill and efficiency. Although the woven fabric looks like embroidery work it is not so. Indigenous, age-old and confined to the very craft called “Tangaliya” it is unique to the community and the place. This bead work done through twisting differently shaded woolen threads into the warp during the weaving process itself does not happen in any other weaving process.
