The gentle and delicate white embroidery work on white cotton fabric with untwisted threads originating from the district of Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh. The works predominantly have floral designs which are very intricate which adds up to the uniqueness. There are about 40 different stitches which are used for different purposes. Contra to the usual stitching method, no frame is used to hold the background fabric to work the embroidery. The printing of the fabrics is done with wooden blocks which enhances the hand work. The best quality of gums and dyes are used from the babul trees (Acacia Arabica) and looks like amser.
