The distinct bell-shaped and violet coloured Purandar fig differentiates itself from other varieties. It has an excellent sweet taste which lingers on the on the tongue for a long period. It is is a high yielding variety and its size is bigger than other varieties. The Purandar Fig fruit has more than 80% pulp (Avg. 89.56%) or edible part. The pulp colour of Purandar fig is pinkish red and is highly nutritious.This high quality and quantity pulp is useful for fruit processing. The fig is cultivated in fifty villages of Purandar Taluka in Pune district.
