The thick yellow-skinned citrus fruit grown in the Devanahalli taluka in Bengaluru rural district is known for its special taste, flavor and sweetness compared to the other existing local pomello varieties which are sour. The carpels (juicy vesicles / pulp) are pinkish, juicy to fairly dry and the segments are easily skinned. It has a characteristic blend of sweet and sour taste with a high yield. The species was on the verge of extinction which was saved for the future.
