This coffee is from the Malabar belt from the plantations in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The Robusta coffee beans are grown in ideal climatic conditions which influence its essential characteristics. The “Mansooned” coffee was an accidental discovery during the long voyage of ships to Europe. The coffee beans acquire a unique, aged and special musty mansooned flavor when held for a long time in a damp condition and exposed to the sea winds. This process of mansooning is unique to India and has made a worldwide impact. In addition to the mansooning of the coffee beans, the controlled action of the yeast and moulds is a pre-requisite stage to undergo the process.
