The variety was named Kesar due to the saffron color of the fruit pulp. Gir Kesar mango has distinctive and rare characters. The mango orchards are located in specific areas of the Junagadh region which has ideal climatic parameters with natural soil condition suitable for cultivation. Coupled with this, the awareness of farmers about agro techniques. The uniqueness of Gir Kesar mango is due to its colour and taste of pulp which contains saffron colour of the pulp.
