The work is confined to people of Darji (tailor) caste with surnames of Mahapatra and Maharana of Pipli. The key features of the appliqu\u00e9 work are its chain stitch, patchwork done manually by hemstitch, the carefully crafted motifs of different designs of figurative like animals, birds, geometrical and diamonds\/motifs; and trees and leaves.
